What a day!
I got up at some obscene hour to start getting ready. Because, unusually enough, I was going to be wearing makeup today.

Not your usual kind of makeup, granted. Not bad for the first full-face job attempt, eh? (Today was a very ego-affirming day for me, obviously.) I'd asked Moira's teacher Nancy if I could paint the kids' faces one of the last days at school, because I'd not been drawing things on their hands when I came to pick up Moira like I used to. She said sure, and I told her I could pick up the pizzas for the pizza party she'd arranged, and so come Thursday morning I was really, really excited.
Moira & Christian's opinion upon just waking up and seeing me was a groggy WTF? but after they'd been awake for a little bit, they got excited too. I took Justin to get some hardware for his office, then dropped him off at work, then finally got Moira to school at 9:30 (I HATE running late, dangit) - Nancy did a double take when she looked up and saw me as I brought Moira into the room, and then motioned for me to come over so the rest of the kids could see. Joy!!
I left and ran to get the pizzas with Christian; came back and we all headed outside for a picnic lunch party - I got the last amount of water in the pipes to start the facepainting (they'd just turned the water off, who knows why, but it was back on not too much later) and sat down & got to work. I painted steadily from about 10:30 until 2ish? And with the exception of a couple of kids (these were all ages 2-4), they were a lot less wiggly than I thought they'd be. I made one spider-man (I wish I'd gotten a picture, it turned out AWESOMELY), several cats, a couple of butterflies, an elephant, an alligator (painted so that when the boy opened his mouth it was the gator's mouth), a queen frog for the birthday girl, an ocean scene (with a clownfish, yellow tang, and octopus), a dog, a row of marching ants (by request; don't ask me!) and a giraffe on Moira's hand/arm - when you wiggled the fingers, the giraffe walked. Very cool. I think that was it - it's a bit of a blur, honestly.
